Become An Instructor

We are always interested to hear from interested persons whether qualified or not as we can provide in house training scheme for persons wanting to work for us. We don't always have vacancies but call us to check.

Some things to bear in mind if you're not already qualified.

You will need to be over 21 years of age and have held a full UK manual motorcycle licence for at least 3 years. Being an instructor means you would need to be a good team leader, be enthusiastic, patient and possess good communication skills and most importantly the ability to get on with people. Being an instructor wouldn't therefore suit a Mr or Mrs angry, a drill sergeant or indeed a wallflower. Previous experience of teaching, public speaking, team building would be an advantage, so would a knowledge of bikes and scooters and basic maintenance, A good Highway code knowledge and any advanced bike test qualifications such as IAM or ROSPA would also be an advantage.. We are opened for training all year round so fair-weather riders be aware you're going to get hot, cold and wet! Company motorcycle/scooter can be provided whilst on duty or you could use your own. You would however need to provide your own radio equipment which would cost about £150. Once trained you would be contracted in on a self employed basis. Usually the hours would be 8.30-4.30 for which a daily rate would be paid.

If you're interested please give us a call for an informal chat. 07950 481482

Please note fit a proper criteria - All convictions will be taken into account when the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) assess your suitability to be an approved motorcycle instructor. This would include fixed penalty offenses - such as speeding. The decision rests with the DVSA, who will take into account any motoring convictions acquired in the last six years and/or your criminal record. If you have committed any motoring offence(s) resulting in endorsements totalling five penalty points or more, the Registrar will consider this carefully and may decide to refuse your registration.
